My name is Tammy Nguyen and I’ll be the General Manager/Owner of theCoderSchool Tribeca location. This location will be the first one in New York City. Before moving to New York City, I was a prolific Real Estate and Mortgage professional in San Francisco Bay Area, earning #1 rep status five years straight at her brokerage for volume of transactions and loans. I earned my BS from San Francisco State University. In my free time, I bring my competitive spirit to running, having completed 6 major marathons, it is something I am very passionate about. Additionally, my true obsession is cooking, as I have tried cooking hundreds of different recipes originating from all corners of the globe. As a mom, I also love helping my daughters, Chloe and Kelis navigate their way through their teen years.
I decided to focus on coding education when I moved to New York and there was a dearth of hands-on coding schools for my daughters, Chloe (13 yo) and Kelis (12 yo). Coding schools were few and far between, and the ones available had poor teacher-student ratios and non-progressive teaching methodologies. I wanted my daughters to have role models and aspirations to be the next Sergey Brin, Bill Gates or Sheryl Sandberg. If I was able to expose Chloe and Kelis to a fun and engaging way to learn coding, then they could make their own decision to go deeper in pursuit of an eventual career in technology.
I wanted to do something at scale after realizing many families are having similar challenges to finding coding programs that can be relevant and stick. I believe in the possibility of enabling every child in New York with the opportunity to learn coding in a way that keeps them interested and engaged.
